Quality at the Source

by James P. Tate on September 19, 2011

The Roanoke Chapter of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) will host a dinner meeting at 6 PM on Oct. 18 at the Golden Corral restaurant at 1441 Towne Square Blvd NW Roanoke, VA.  The topic of this dinner meeting will be “Quality at the Source”.  This Lean manufacturing technique focuses on making the product properly at each stage of the production process.  If a defect or problem is identified, it should be quickly brought to the attention of production management and the production operation shut down until the cause is found and the problem is corrected.  Although this tactic sounds relatively obvious, (after all, who wants to make bad product!), its implementation in the face of production quotas and delivery schedules is challenging.  Join the ASQ to learn how this Lean technique can bring improved production quality, increased through put and reduced costs for your firm.
